Max Verstappen, a Red Bull holland versenyzője nyerte a rendhagyó Forma–1-es 70. évforduló Nagydíját vasárnap Silverstone-ban.
A 22 éves pilótának ez az idei első és pályafutása kilencedik futamgyőzelme, személyében először aratott sikert ebben a szezonban nem mercedeses versenyző. Verstappen nem utolsó sorban a csapatának köszönheti a győzelmet, a Red Bull ugyanis kiváló gumitaktikával utasította maga mögé a világbajnoki címvédő Mercedes pilótáit: a címvédő és hatszoros világbajnok brit Lewis Hamilton lett a második, míg a finn Valtteri Bottas a harmadik.
A rajtnál Bottas és Hamilton is jól jött el, a harmadik helyért pedig Verstappen sikeresen támadta meg Nico Hülkenberget (Racing Point). Öt körrel a start után Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen volt a dobogós helyeken száguldók sorrendje. A kerékcserék sorát Bottas kezdte meg, majd Hamilton is a boxban járt, Verstappen viszont csak a 27. körben hajtott a boxba friss gumikért. A Mercedes versenyzői folyamatosan panaszkodtak a gumik kopására, Verstappen pedig elegendő előnyt autózott ki ahhoz, hogy a boxutcából a pályára visszatérve egyből támadhassa Bottast. A holland gond nélkül meg is előzte a finnt, így 24 körrel a leintés előtt újra vezetett.
A 30. körben tehát Verstappen, Bottas, Hamilton volt az első három sorrendje, ugyanakkor három körrel később Verstappen és Bottas egyszerre hajtott a boxba kerékcserére. Hamilton ekkor az élre került, de a 42. körben ő is friss abroncsokat kapott, és negyedikként tért vissza a pályára. Tíz körrel a leintés előtt Verstappen, Bottas, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) volt a sorrend az első három helyen, Hamilton pedig nagy felzárkózásba kezdett, megelőzte Leclerc-t, majd Bottast is, de Verstappent a győzelemért már nem volt sem ideje, sem tempója megtámadni. A vb egy hét múlva, Spanyolországban folytatódik.

Jókora lépéssel közelebb került az F1 ahhoz, hogy legyen az idén nyáron Brit Nagydíj, sőt, a mezőny mindjárt két versenyt is futhat Silverstone-ban. Eközben egy másik klasszikus helyszín is jó híreket kapott.
Nagy lépést tettek az idei Brit Nagydíj megrendezése felé a verseny szervezői, miután a korábbi nézetkülönbségeket áthidalva egyezségre jutottak az F1-et tulajdonló Liberty Media-val arról, hogy két futamot rendeznek a szigetországban. A silverstone-i futamok ezzel együtt még nem biztosítottak, a végső döntést ugyanis a kormány mondja ki.
Eközben az augusztus 30-ára tervezett Belga Nagydíj megkapta a zöld jelzést a belga kormánytól, úgyhogy már csak az ottani promóternek és a Libertynek kell megegyeznie a versenyről.
„Örömmel erősíthetem meg, hogy Silverstone és az F1 egyezségre jutottak abban, hogy a nyáron a pálya két zárt kapus versenynek ad otthont – nyilatkozta Stuart Pringle, a silverstone-i pálya igazgatója az Autosportnak. – Ugyanakkor ezekhez a versenyekhez a kormány jóváhagyása szükséges, mivel az elsődleges szempont minden résztvevő biztonsága és a COVID-19 szabályozások szigorú betartása. Meg szeretném köszönni minden szurkolónak, aki támogatott minket, és biztosítani szeretném őket, hogy eltökélt szándékunk segíteni az F1-et a minél jobb show létrehozásában az idén nyáron.”
A silverstone-i szervezők már egy ideje tárgyalásokat folytattak az F1 jogtulajdonosával, az álláspontok azonban sokáig különbözőek voltak arról, hogy az F1-nek mennyit kell fizetnie a rendezésért cserébe, lévén nézők nélkül a pályának nem lesz bevétele a futamokból. Most, hogy megszületett a megállapodás, és már csak a kormány jóváhagyása szükséges, a további részletek kidolgozásán van a sor.
Az Autosport értesülései szerint az első silverstone-i futam július 26-án, a második pedig augusztus 2-án lenne, így egy hét pihenőt kapnának a csapatok az ausztriai duplázás után.
Amennyiben ez a forgatókönyv valósul meg, az a Magyar Nagydíj eltolását is jelentené, hiszen augusztus 2-án eredetileg a Hungaroringen versenyezne a mezőny. Egyelőre azonban még nincs megerősített versenynaptár, az Autosportnak az F1 szóvivője azt mondta: „jelenleg is dolgoznak a promóterekkel az új versenynaptáron.”
Belgium is egy lépéssel közelebb a versenyhez
Sokáig az augusztus végére tervezett Belga Nagydíj megrendezése is kérdéses volt, mivel az országban augusztus 31-ig minden tömegrendezvényt betiltottak, pénteken a belga kormány azonban hivatalosan is áldását adta, hogy zárt kapuk mögött megrendezhessék az augusztus 30-i Belga Nagydíjat. „Végre megkaptuk a zöld jelzést a kormánytól. Az F1-gyel már kötöttünk egy alap megállapodást, a továbbiakhoz azonban szükségünk volt a kormány döntésére” – nyilatkozta Stijn De Boever, a verseny kereskedelmi igazgatója az Autosportnak.
De Boever elmondta, a terv az, hogy a régiónak nem kell fizetnie a futamrendezésért, ami pedig a biztonsági intézkedéseket illeti, az F1-gyel történő egyeztetéseken túl a többi promóterrel is tartják a kapcsolatot, és ami például beválik az Osztrák Nagydíj esetében, azt ők is igyekeznek majd átvenni. A szervezők ezen kívül bejelentették, hogy a már megvásárolt jegyek a 2021-es futamra érvényesek maradnak, de pénzvisszafizetésre is lehetőség van.
