A szezonzáró Abu-Dzabi Nagydíj után felállították az F1-es pilóták erősorrendjét, a végeredmény pedig bombameglepetést hozott, ugyanis nem a szezon végén diadalmaskodó Max Verstappen lett az év versenyzője.
A 2024-es Forma-1-es szezonban Max Verstappen kilenc futamot nyert, végül a brit Lando Norrist 63 ponttal megelőzve végzett az élen ezzel a holland pilóta sorozatban negyedszer lett F1-es világbajnok.
A Red Bull sztárja a kilenc futamgyőzelme mellett nyolc pole-pozíciót szerzett az idei szezonban, és végig rendkívül domináns teljesítmény nyújtott. Ezek után bombameglepetés lett, hogy a Forma-1 Power Rankingjében mégsem ő lett a szezon versenyzője.
A Forma-1 Power Rankingt egy ötfős zsűri felügyeli, akik minden verseny után értékelik a pilótákat, és az autójukat figyelmen kívül hagyva 1-től 10-ig terjedő pontszámot adnak nekik a hétvégi teljesítményük alapján.
Az egész éves rangsorban Verstappen a szezonzáró futam előtt még az élen állt, de a bírák az Abu-Dzabiban nyújtott teljesítménye miatt nem tették be a hétvége legjobb tíz pilótája közé. Ennek következtében az utolsó pillanatban le kellett mondania az első helyről a Power Rankingben.
Végül a futamgyőztes Lando Norris kapta a legmagasabb pontszámot a bíráktól Abu-Dzabiban, így az összesített győzelmet is a McLaren brit pilótája szerezte meg.
Norris a teljes szezon során 8,2-es átlagot kapott a bíráktól, míg Verstappen 8,1-es átlaggal zárt.
