Hatvannégy évesen elhunyt Kuncz László olimpiai bronz-, világbajnoki és Európa-bajnoki ezüstérmes, 200-szoros válogatott vízilabdázó – olvasható a Magyar Vízilabda Szövetség honlapján.
Kuncz László sportpályafutását úszóként a Budapesti Honvédban kezdte, majd 1972-től Hevesi István, Öveges László és Brandy Jenő kezei alatt vízilabdázott. Három évvel később, az első felnőtt bajnoki találkozóján öt gólt lőtt az FTC-nek, Gyarmati Dezső szövetségi kapitány pedig behívta a válogatottba.
A nemzeti csapattal az 1980-as moszkvai olimpián állt a dobogóra, de tagja volt az 1982-es világbajnoki második, illetve az 1983-ban Európa-bajnoki második, 1981-ben pedig harmadik együttesnek. Háromszoros magyar bajnok és kupagyőztes, az OSC-vel kétszeres BEK-győztes, a Vasassal KEK-győztes volt. Később edzőként tevékenykedett.
