A szervezők csütörtöki bejelentése szerint jövőre nem lesz Francia Nagydíj a Forma-1-es autós gyorsasági világbajnokság versenynaptárában, ugyanakkor később visszatérhet a programba a futam.
A Le Castellet-ben található Paul Ricard versenypálya szerződése az idei hétvége után lejárt, és a megállapodást nem újították meg. A legutóbbi négy évben itt rendezték meg az F1-es versenyt, korábban viszont más francia pályák is otthont adtak a viadalnak.
A szervezők csütörtökön, a hétvégi Belga Nagydíj helyszínén azt közölték, hogy a következő években Franciaország visszatérhet az F1-be, „különösképp úgy, hogy a helyszín évente cserélődik”.
A belga és a monacói futam jövője szintén kérdéses, egyiknek sincs szerződése 2023-ra, és elképzelhető, hogy szintén felváltva rendeznek majd Forma–1-es viadalt.
Az ugyanakkor lehetséges, hogy Katar, Los Angeles, valamint Kína és a Dél-afrikai Köztársaság bekerül a versenynaptárba.
