Az Európai Kézilabda Szövetség (EHF) az ukrajnai háború miatt a következő szezonban sem engedi indulni az orosz és fehérorosz klubcsapatokat és válogatottakat.
Az EHF végrehajtó bizottsága február 28-án határozott úgy, hogy az orosz és belorusz csapatok részvételét határozatlan időre felfüggeszti a szervezet égisze alatt zajló versenyeken. Az ítélet miatt az orosz sportági szövetség március 23-án panaszt nyújtott be az EHF illetékes testületéhez.
A kontinentális szövetség vezetésének pénteki, kölni ülésén tervezték az esetleges visszafogadás kérdését megvitatni, ám végül későbbi időpontra halasztották a döntést. Vasárnap aztán Michael Wiederer EHF-elnök egy szűkkörű sajtóbeszélgetésen vonakodva ugyan, de egyértelműen elismerte: az európai sorozatok továbbra is oroszok és a fehéroroszok nélkül zajlanak majd.
