 A koronavírus-járvány miatt 2020-ról tavaly nyárra halasztott tornának Budapest, Sevilla, Szentpétervár, London, München, Baku, Róma, Koppenhága, Bukarest, Amszterdam és Glasgow adott otthont. A szlovén sportvezető elmondta, a jövőben nem gondolkodnak 10-11 országban, mert a tavalyi Európa-bajnokság eléggé bonyolult volt, a világjárvány pedig még inkább megnehezítette a rendezést.
  
 Ami a sportszakmai részét illeti, Svájc egy meccset játszott Rómában, majd egyet Bakuban, néhány csapat viszont állandóan otthon játszott, és a döntőbe két olyan válogatott került, amelynek nem kellett utaznia. Egyáltalán nem kedveljük ezt a koncepciót – magyarázta.
 Ceferin hozzátette, az ötlet nem volt rossz, mert az első Európa-bajnokság hatvanadik évfordulóján a páneurópai barátságot szimbolizálta, de érzése szerint a tornát legfeljebb két országban kell megrendezni, vagyis szomszédos nemzetek közös pályázatát egyáltalán nem ellenzi.
 A 2024-es torna Németországban lesz, a 2028-as rendezés kapcsán pedig eddig három helyről érkezett érdeklődés: Törökországból, Olaszországból, valamint az Anglia, Észak-Írország, Skócia, Wales, Írország ötös részéről.
