УЄФА затвердив новий формат Ліги чемпіонів, Ліги Європи і Ліги конференцій, який вступить в силу починаючи з сезону-2024/25, повідомляє сайт УЄФА.
Ліга чемпіонів буде розширена з 32 до 36 команд. Головні зміни торкнуться групового етапу турніру. Замість нього всі учасники гратимуть в єдиній лізі.
Вісім кращих команд вийдуть у плей-офф, а команди з дев’ятого місця по 24-е гратимуть перехідні матчі за право вийти в наступну стадію турніру. 12 останніх команд за підсумками групового турніру покинуть Лігу чемпіонів.
Подібним чином також зміниться формат Ліги Європи (вісім матчів на загальному етапі) і Ліги конференцій (шість матчів на загальному етапі). У майбутньому кількість учасників загальних етапу двох цих турнірів також може збільшитися до 36.
