A Forma–1 elnök-vezérigazgatója, Stefano Domenicali az idei szezont még további átrendezések nélkül szeretné megrendezni, de tudja, hogy rugalmasnak kell lenniük a koronavírus miatt. Ha visszatér a normális kerékvágás, csökkenhet a nagydíjak száma.
Bizonytalanság övezi az idei F1-es szezont, mivel a koronavírus miatt továbbra sem tudni, hogy tartható-e a már módosított versenynaptár, ami a menetrend utolsó harmadában már most is minden korábbinál megterhelőbbnek ígérkezik. Stefano Domenicali, az F1 elnök-vezérigazgatója a Sky Sportsnak elmondta, egyelőre nem számít további változásokra.
„Elmondhatom, hogy napi rendszerességgel beszélek a szervezőkkel – nyilatkozta a Sky Sportsnak. – Tudjuk, hogy a világjárvány még nem múlt el, ezért is helyeztük át Ausztráliát a naptárban, de azt az információt kaptuk, hogy mindenki nagyon szeretné tartani a tervet. Nyilvánvalóan rugalmasnak kell lennünk, és el kell fogadnunk, hogy a szezon elején lehetnek zárt kapus vagy a közönség szempontjából korlátozott események.”
Domenicali leszögezte, meg akarják rendezni a szezont és vannak alternatíváik arra az esetre, ha ismét bele kellene nyúlni a menetrendbe, de azt mondta, egyelőre nem kapott olyan információt, ami eltér az eddig bejelentett tervektől.
Amennyiben sikerülne fenntartani az eredeti hosszúságú versenynaptárat, minden idők leghosszabb szezonját rendeznék idén, a 23 futamos program különösen a szerelők számára megterhelő, de felmerült már az is, hogy a közönség szemében is erodálja a gyakoriság az érdekességet.
„Kétségtelen, hogy a 23 verseny nagyon fontos szám – ismerte el. – A minőség, a figyelem és az emberek kötődése szempontjából is. E téren két megközelítés lehet: mondhatjuk, hogy ez túl sok, más úgy vélheti, hogy ez nem probléma. Szerintem ez magától meg fog oldódni azáltal, hogy hihetetlen műsort fogunk csinálni.”
