A Forma–1 a 2025-ös szezontól kezdve nem ad bónuszpontot a leggyorsabb körért.
Az FIA Motorsport Világtanácsának döntése azután született, hogy az RB versenyzője, Daniel Ricciardo a legutóbbi szingapúri futamon elvitte a pontot a címvédő Lando Norris elől. Az RB a Red Bull testvércsapata, amelynek pilótája, Max Verstappen a McLaren versenyzőjével, Norrisszal vív a világbajnoki címért.
A pluszpontot 2019-ben vezették be, azok a pilóták kapták meg, akik a leggyorsabb kört teljesítették és az első 10-ben végeztek. A megbeszéléseken arról volt szó, hogy a pontszerzést kiterjesztik az első 12 helyezettre, de ezt végül elvetették. A hagyományosnak mondható, 2010-ben bevezetett 25-18-15-12-12-10-8-6-4-2-1-es rendszert megtartották.
