Az idei az utolsó szezon Kimi Räikkönen számára a Forma–1-ben, ezt az jelentette be Instagram-oldalán a 2007-es világbajnok az. Hosszú pályafutást zár le a mezőny veteránja.
Beigazolódtak a pletykák, az októberben a 42. születésnapját ünneplő Kimi Räikkönen a szezon végén visszavonul a Forma–1-től. A 2007-es világbajnok erről az Instagram-oldalán számolt be.
„Ennyi volt. Ez az utolsó szezonom a Forma–1-ben. A döntést már az előző télen meghoztam. Nem volt könnyű, de az idei szezon után ideje új dolgokat keresni. Noha még folyamatban van a szezon, szeretnék köszönetet mondani a családomnak, az összes csapatomnak, mindenkinek, aki részt vett a versenyzői pályafutásomban, különösen a nagyszerű szurkolóknak, akik végig drukkoltak nekem.”
„A Forma–1-nek ugyan számomra vége lesz, de rengeteg dolog van még az életben, amit szeretnék megtapasztalni és élvezni. Találkozunk még ezután is! Tisztelettel, Kimi” – írta a finn pilóta.
Räikkönen 2001-ben mutatkozott be a világbajnokság mezőnyében a Sauber színeiben, később a McLaren-Mercedes, a Ferrari, a Lotus, ismét a Ferrari, majd a Sauber által működtetett Alfa Romeo Racing színeiben állt rajthoz. A 2010-es és a 2011-es szezont kihagyta, ekkor a rali-világbajnokságban és a NASCAR-ban is szerencsét próbált, de végül visszatért az F1-be.
A finn pilóta összesen 21 futamgyőzelmet és 103 dobogós helyet ért el, világbajnoki címe mellett kétszer lett második helyezett, ő az egyetlen pilóta, aki V10-es, V8-as, és V6-os hibrid erőforrással is futamot tudott nyerni, legutóbb a 2018-as USA Nagydíjon a Ferrari színeiben.
Az Alfa Romeo Racing versenyzőjével a Hungaroringen interjút készítettünk, 2019-ben a felkészültségének hátteréről érdeklődtünk az F1 egyik fitneszgurujánál, az önéletrajzi könyvéről pedig itt közöltünk kritikát.
Csapata, az Alfa Romeo így búcsúzik tőle a Twitteren: „Ezzel valóban lezárul egy korszak a sportágunkban. Köszönünk mindent, nélküled az F1 nem lesz ugyanolyan. Kiitos, Kimi.”
Stefano Domenicali, Räikkönen korábbi csapatfőnöke, az F1 jelenlegi elnök vezérigazgatója is méltatja a versenyzőt: „Kimi hihetetlen tagja a sportágunknak, személyes barátom és igazi bajnok. Részem volt a kiváltságban, hogy dolgozhattam vele a Ferrarinál, és megismerhettem, hogy milyen szenzációs ember ő. Mindannyiunknak hiányozni fog ő és az egyedi stílusa is, a legjobbakat kívánjuk neki és a családjának is a jövőre.”
Räikkönen utódja várhatóan honfitársa, Valtteri Bottas lesz, aki a várakozások szerint a Williamstől érkező George Russellnek adja át a helyét.

A Ferrari utolsó világbajnoka kívülről nem akart állást foglalni korábbi csapata idei formájával kapcsolatban. Egyelőre az sem aggasztja, hogy az olaszok motorja gyengének tűnik.
A Ferrari idei formája a Forma-1 egyik legérdekesebb témája, a Scuderia 2009 óta nem kezdett ilyen gyengén, ráadásul az erőforrás lemaradása hátrányosan érinti az ügyfélcsapatok, a Haas és az Alfa Romeo szereplését is.
Az olaszok eddigi utolsó világbajnoka, Kimi Räikkönen is érintett, hiszen 2007-2009, majd 2014-2018 között hosszú éveket eltöltött Maranellóban, jelenleg pedig az Alfa Romeo színeiben szintén Ferrari-motorral versenyez, de úgy érzi, ettől még nem hivatott arra, hogy véleményt formáljon a Scuderia helyzetével kapcsolatban.

A Scuderia problémáját elsősorban az okozza, hogy új motort kellett építeniük, miután az előző szezonban használt változat szabályosságáról az FIA nem volt meggyőződve. Az autó aerodinamikai koncepcióját erős motorra számítva alkották meg, így a visszaesés több fronton is sújtja a Ferrarit.
Räikkönen viszont úgy vélte, az Alfa Romeo szemszögéből két futam alapján egyelőre nem lehet következtetést levonni.
„Volt két verseny, de ugyanazon a pályán. Nem hiszem, hogy ez a legnagyobb problémánk. Az ember persze mindig szeretne gyorsabban menni az egyenesben, de közben a kanyarokban is, ezért a csúcssebesség terén kompromisszumot kell kötni. Itt [a Hungaroringen] egyáltalán nem számít a tempó az egyenesben, úgyhogy meglátjuk, mi lesz. Pályáról pályára mindig változik a helyzet.”
„Alapvetően az ember minél több lóerőt használhat, annál meredekebb szárnyállásokat választhat, és ez hasznos, de mindenki erre törekszik. Meglátjuk, még túl korai megmondani, hogy hol tartunk. Úgy érzem, az autónk jobb volt annál, ahol célba értünk, főleg a második futamon. Most ezzel kell beérnünk, meglátjuk, mire megyünk vele.”
