Ötvenöt esztendős korában elhunyt Duró József, 21-szeres magyar válogatott labdarúgó – számolt be róla korábbi klubja, a Debreceni VSC hivatalos oldala, a hírt pedig családja is megerősítette a Nemzeti Sportnak.
A berettyóújfalui születésű középpályás 1985-ben a Debreceni MVSC csapatában mutatkozott be a magyar élvonalban, a debreceniek színeiben 75 mérkőzésen lépett pályára. Ezt követően a Vasasnál, a Siófoki Bányásznál és a Honvédnál is megfordult – utóbbinál 1992 és 1996 között szerepelt, első idényében tagja volt a bajnoki címet nyert csapatnak.
Később, 1996-ban kipróbálta magát Izraelben, majd a BVSC-nél és a Dorogi FC-nél is futballozott, utóbbinál fejezte be aktív pályafutását. A magyar válogatottban 1990 és 1995 között 21 alkalommal lépett pályára.
Edzőként többek közt a Budapest Honvédot is irányította.
